Migration: Monsters could move locations (based on seasons?) Mixes things up a bit and encourages exploration whilst discouraging spies/converts sharing information. Also make PvP a bit more interesting if we aren’t sure where the ‘enemies’ are training.
Natural disasters: Earthquake - Maybe change the mountains and move mine locations for similar reasons to above?
Ice events? Rain events with increased water terrains and forests? Dry spells with changes to desert?

Maybe also cold spell: all rivers and lakes are frozen for a week and any race can walk on them
