Maybe I haven't been reading the right guides (not that there are many to read) or maybe I'm just dumb, but I'm curious where you're safe from getting killed. I know the capitals are safe, but what about towns? If you're not on a list for them, are you safe there?
I ask because my choice of career path in the game will likely involve a great deal of PvP (hell it already has), and I mean to understand as much as possible.

Hi, if you want to be a PvP-man, great, this game is for you, but I hardly suggest to choose one side and kill the other. As free folk killing members of both factions won't be fun for you in the long run. You'll get killed whenever you leave a capital, if you will be allowed in any capital. Once mayors are active you'll get banned from capitals most likely. Free folk really is for people who want to stay away from PvP, so quite the opposite of your plan.

While I appreciate the concern, that wasn't the question I was asking. I'm well aware of the risks, what may be in store for me, and accept them. I'm used to playing the outcast in MMOs.
My question was in regards to safe zones, and I posted it here not just for my benefit but for other PVP-minded players that may be just getting their feet wet. Capitals are safe, unless you're banned from them (which is a very real possibility for my personal future I know). I assume the same holds true for towns? Or would that be incorrect?

towns are no safe zones. Only safe zones are capitols. If mayors bann you from all capitols you can't resurrect after dying. Just trying to explain how this game works.

Capitol cities are the only tiles where combat can not occur, which is what makes them a safe zone, until you give the mayor reason to eject you from that tile by banning you.
Player towns are not special tiles, combat happens, and you can not be banned from them. Powerful player towns always sound cool but they'd be a nightmare to balance.

"can't resurrect after dying" Oh my. Didn't realize that til now. Welp, guess this character will just have to be short-lived then. I intend on playing the mercenary, even if it does lead me to a doomed end once mayors on either side get butthurt and decide to ban me. Kind of lame but fuck it. Playing non-PVP or faction lacky is for chumps. Anyway, thanks for the answers, Askytos and Emilana. At least others new to how the game works will have some valuable info here.

For people that get banned from both factions, there will be another resurection point. But your life is still gonna be tough if absolutely everyone in the game is your enemy

But your life is still gonna be tough if absolutely everyone in the game is your enemy That's a relief to hear, Belouch. And here I was beginning to make peace with my mortality. I'm sure my life will be quite tough. It's never easy being that guy on everyone's kill list. But it's a life I'm used to in most games and, even for all the disadvantages, I enjoy it. Keeps things exciting. And to be fair, I don't intend on just being a random serial murderer (anymore at least). Mercenaries are paid for their work after all. Don't know if that will matter to the community, but we'll see. Thanks for the answers everyone.
