The natural curiosity of wondering what could be on that mountain, in that desert
or wasteland and more importantly in that forest had always been followed by a
building sense of excitement as the said area was approached and entered, it had
always been that way walking now under the leaves of a new forest that sense of
wonder reached its zenith, untill something burst from the undergrowth, there was
a slashing of claws then large sharp teeth bit deep, realising that this was a
beast she would not overcome with her primative weapons, she ducked behind a tree
and fled blindly into the forest, this skill had always served her well before and
had saved her more than once, puffing and panting she started to run into a small
clearing, there was a glimpse of three creatures, the tearing pain of three sets
of teeth and an awful lot of red, then blackness.
There was singing it sounded distant and soft, she had heard once before, when she
had awoken confused in the stone temple building of the healers, she had always
assumed the Healers were of some unknown tribe, they looked almost dead, but were
always there ready to heal any wounded returning to town, she had called in once
or twice and they had been on the ship too, but her last visit had been different
she hadn`t walked in for start but awoken on a stone slab, dressed in white cotton
clothes she had asked questions, the only answer she got was "Mutawa attacked you"
they gave her leather armour and a pair of bastons, and indicated that it was time
to leave.
Out in the street she wandered about dazed until it dawned on her she had been
hunting Mountian Cobras for Rwandi, "Bugger! now I`ve got to walk back there!" she
remembered this as the singing drew her on slightly louder now, in the dark there was
no left no right no up or down only onwards.
She awoke on stone slab surrounded by the familiar stone walls, she remembered only
teeth, she sat up again dressed in simple cotton clothes, there was the Healer as
familiar as ever, she sighed, "Thankyou" the Healer simply nodded, another came in
and handed her leather armour and a pair of bastons then pointing her helpfully in
the direction of the door, walking outside into the sunlight she blinked, looking
around to sure.
This was not New Haven...
