Turns out that in order to make a machete, you need a small wooden handle. But in order to make a small wooden handle you need a machete. Not sure if that is by design, or if there is some other way to get the handle that I didn't see, but seems a problem that shouldn't be...

Similar with a blacksmith hammer. Ingredients: 1 Bronze ingot, 1 Small wood handle, 1 Leather strip Tools: Blacksmith hammer, Anvil The bronze ingot requires a hammer, also a tin and some copper ingots which in turn require a hammer. The anvil requires a hammer to make, also the ingots for the anvil need a hammer. The handle and leather need a machete which in turn needs a hammer and ingredients that need a hammer.
In the beginning the recipe for an anvil was changed so that it doesn't need an anvil to be made. This was because one of our anvils was stolen and we had a problem making a new one. As the world evolves there will be enough tools and items to create new tools. There is no anvil problem now because enough exist. There is also no machete problem because there are 380 machetes in game. On the opposite the first half plate was created with bare hands because it required neither hammer nor anvil.
What we should ask ourselves is: is the recipe plausible as it is? So me it is plausible that a machete uses a handle and that the handle has to be carved. In this case for carving a machete is used. That's ok too. So I see no problem here.
Maybe for the future there could be 'or' requirements. So for example for a small wooden handle the tool could be 'an axe or a machete or a carving knife' for example.
