Is their a reason they take more then 10 skill to make? I view the nails like planks, and d-stone for how they are used to construct buildings.

I recon its because of the time and effort it takes to gather the ores and coal , then you have to make the bars , then work the bars into nails.
on the other hand I think the planks and dim stone are extremely low skill , lets face it any berk can hack away at mountain and have a chance to get a workable chunk of stone out of it, but it takes some skill to shape it into anything you build with, same berk can chop at a tree and stand a chance to get a useful log, in fact I can turn trees into logs (and not fail at all), but I wouldnt put money on my ability to get planks out of them!.

hmmm rookie lumber jack cops down tree and has it fall on someone/himself or something,
game has balances crafting gives 9 exp, training without master is 4 and training with master 5-12 depends on how good master is.
reading a google guide is 4 xp per turn.... destroying your stuff is 9 exp
