Universal Spells would make mana useful
Spell Suggestions
Rage
Cost 20 mana +10 attack power last 300 seconds -10 defence power last 3000 seconds
Steal
Cost 100 mana -40 fleeing -4 instinct last 600 seconds takes 1 random item from targets inventory
Mend minor wounds Cost 3 mana
restores 1 hp

The rage spell would make things interesting. A good pvp spell. The idea of universal spells is also interesting. Could make them learn-able at a building or a new quest line.

I like the idea of linking to a quest, and any spells would be great!
Look for Trouble / Kick the Anthill / Poke the Bear Cost 40? Duration 600 seconds doubles chance of finding a fight per turn spent
Shelter Cost High Duration not too long offers chance of not being seen on a look around (something like a hidden town)
Go Veggie Cost 40? Duration 600 seconds doubles the chance of find plants/herbs per turn spent

More physical skills than ‘magic’ could be good so all are capable from a rplay perspective.
Taunt Change attacker’s target in group fights
Shackle/clip Reduce opponent’s fleeing by 100 skill for 30 secs.
Meditate Increase health regen for x minutes. Costs mvps (initial cost and block regen whilst active?) and mana.
Cower/escape Increase fleeing by 100 for 30 sec, reduce AP & DP by 100 for 30 min.
Focus Increase sight by +1

Death Zone
cost.. a whole big chunk of mana Duration... x seconds depending on health and Endurance
To go beyond the tier 2 mountains and walk among the stars on the tier 3s movement cost high and based on race, outstay your duration for a cool (frozen) instant death, no res for an hour theres a pricefor life at the top, obviously clear the beasties and some nice big beasties up there with treasures beyound mere mortals imagining..well maybe not beyond else there be nothing up there...
oh and there should be a frozen body eg 1 leather armour, 1 blowpipe and 1(+) frozen body(ies), frozen body should weigh 2000 (body frozen to the ground)

More "warrior" spells could really work. This way people can pick the type of fighting style they want.
Sprint: increase movement by 1 for x seconds.
Pursuit: increase seeking
Shout: decrease opponents dp
whirlwind: hit multiple groups of monster/players
nose for ore: increase chance to find ore
Defense stance: increase dp, decrease ap
one hand fighting: increase ap with 1H weapons
two hand fighting: increase ap with 2H weapons
shield fighting: increase dp with shields.

Some cool ideas here! Kyri, I really like the shelter idea, but I feel like it fits best for only certain races to use (leafborn, lightfoot, kiith, probably). Guess some of the others could be race specific too.
Teleportation spells have been thrown around before, and I think I've come up with a way to make them not game-breaking: High mana - 100ish per cast Expensive item required - Probably need someone with high alchemy to make it, involves dragon meat maybe Can only teleport from 1 friendly town to another - this is key to prevent abuse in raids.
I have a few other - race specific - ideas. Would it be better to just post here or make a new thread? I really enjoy just brainstorming and discussing this sort of thing.
