Game Update 31 October 2019
New Add-XP system
Other changes
New Add-XP system
We have entirely recoded the Add-XP system. These are the scripts that add XP to your skills and make you skill-up when you train, fight, craft, mine, finish a quest, catch a spirit etc... anything that gives XP basically.
The old system was messy with 6 scripts in different parts, now it's all clean and pretty, in only one part of the code.
And we can play with it much more easily.
So what changes for you?
So how about a double XP (for weapon skills in fight) weekend on 9-10 November to celebrate that?
New server
As you know, the server died on us at the beginning of the month. Luckily we have a strong backup system and there was no data or code loss, but we still lost several days in reinstalling everything on a new server.
As you can imagine, this has slowed down our development progress a lot the past weeks. The new server is not so expensive, but it is quite weak, and though it holds up fine when there is no special event, we saw with the last dragon fight that when more than 30 players are in the same fight it struggles a bit, causing lag. This means that sooner or later, and as our playerbase is increasing lately (yay!) we will have to switch to a more powerful server.
Several players have asked us to open donations to help support the running cost of the game, we will probably do that, for sure if we have to change to a more costly server. Of course no matter what happens the game will always remain free and without any pay-to-win junk.
New player walkthrough
As most of you have probably seen, a new player walkthrough is launched automatically when you first login. It explains briefly the key elements of the game and the interface. This should be very helpful for new players. Once you have completed it (or skipped it) it will never autolaunch again.
Once more, a big thanks to Hikari who was a tremendous help for this!
Weaponskills Softcap/Hardcap
In two weeks, we will change the way the weaponskill cap works:
-Up until 350, it will be full XP like it has been
-From 350 to 400, we will have a softcap, where XP is much smaller
-At 400 we will have a hardcap
-Once someone hits 400, both caps will increase by 1 skill per week
The aim is simple:
-Players who want to be at the top will have to push to hardcap
-Players that create later will have easier skills, making it easier for them to catch up to old players
-This means that for example, if a new player joins in 4 years time, he will have a XP highway to 550 and will do only 550-600 in softcap mode. Wherehas older players will have done the whole 350-600 under softcap mode.
Mentorship program
No need to send me a PM anymore, players can now declare their mentors ingame.
Just go to Options >> Declare a Mentor.
If you go on that page you can also see the list of your mentees if you have any.

So what changes for you?
- XP now rolls-over when you skill-up. No more lost XP! This is for both generals and weapon skills.
- General tribal bonuses now work for any type of crafting, even when you are just mining stone or cutting wood.
- Weapon tribal bonuses are now active. You get 2% XP bonus if you use a preferred weapon skill (similarly to how the new player bonus works, you don't get 2% bonus every hit, but 2% of your hits are double-XP).
- We can easily play with the XP system, for the softcap/hardcap system for example, or double XP weekends.

Elections
Both factions have agreed on having only one candidate each so there will not be any need for an active election.
The mayors are:
-New Heaven: Askytos, for a 4th consecutive term (2,000XP leadership bonus)
-Exodus: Giantdad, for a 1st term! (3,000XP leadership bonus)

Other changes
- Voting sites: We have replaced TOPG with a new site, Arena100. TOPG was not only annoying in how they counted votes (we had 1800 votes but the score was 350...), but also was extremely inefficient in getting us new players compared to the other voting sites (we can track them thanks to referral links).
- Marketplace: Items of a same type now have the cheapest one on top.
- Restat: The stats of characters are now recalculated every 4-5 seconds. This means that the bug where some spell or potion effects were lasting an eternity is resolved. This allowed us to reactivate the Kiith spell Illusion (+40 agility for 20 seconds).
