In regards to player initials on map: (As partially discussed in discord)
I feel we should keep it slightly more anonymous and RP friendly.
For this a suggestion would be to use a tribe image, symbol or tribe initals. Not name initials. But an image, or tribe symbol/initials that are colour highlighted/coded by faction.
Then only see name within chat range in chat window. And perhaps be able to click on intials from main to take u to player description.
RPwise, this offers a more real feel, rather than spotting a Pi from 13 tiles away and knowing its Pirate. (Or those of us with more unfortunate initials.)
It feels like we should be able to make out a figure in the distant and tell if its a giant or a lightfoot, but not see it has a "Hello my name is:" badge on.
This also sheds another old tps paradigm for this style of game. As a small way to give Agonia more of its own identity.
It does feel key that we should colour code by faction though, in order to keep existing strategic integrity intact, while still offering RP conducive gameplay.

I agree. Wanted something like this for awhile too, along with maybe weapon types people are using in the fight log. "Phage takes a stab at Bjorn with her dagger and misses." Or even substitute the weapon type with actual weapon name for more detail but that might reveal too much.

I wouldn`t be too bothered with noting faction at a distance, its not like anyone is wearing uniforms but with a closer inspection something like... Look around see theres a Giant (other Tribes (brands) are available ) you could just go back to what you were doing knowing someones there or pay a bit more attention , say click on the icon and get a bit more information, such as faction, basicly like staring for a while. I think this is a Great idea huge thumbs up from me! ******** Did just have a thought about identifying fellow group members, whether a coulor to pick out those you are in alliance with not, I`d still lean to clicking find out but have the info limited to red ..not allied to you, green ....is allied to you, make people guess a little.

I see the rplay angle but I think it takes away from PvP a little and the logistics of it are painful? With lots of converts it would be messy having to check who the characters are around you constantly. Plus when I’m raiding if tactically avoid attacking certain players in certain locations and it would put me off raiding if I have to step on offline players to see who they are.
One option could be is that players we have set in our diplomacies appear as initials (we recognise them) and ones that we have no affiliation with appear as tribe only? But, that again is logistically painful..
For mobile users, opening the in-game chat window is crappy and by the time you have done that your enemy could easily have rushed you.
