Staring across the wasteland searching for signs of movement among the broken
rocks, the wind howled and threw dust in her face, it had been a long time since her
last hydra hunt she finaly found some signs of one nearby, the wastes never give away
many clues sword in hand she crept around the jagged landscape and found her quarry.
Memories from long ago lept unbidden of the first time she had traveled these
wastes, back then roaming from city to city exploring new places she never heard of,
after investing a few gold in map of the lands she had set off to explore after many
hours of fruitless searching she had come by a few snakes, after cutting one down by
reflex she had hopped back behind a rock and sheathed her sword, no point wasting the
oppitunity to do some much needed knife training she thought, drawing her small blade
she jumped out from the rocks to finish the snakes off, they would make a tastey meal,
the hideous creatures that now stood there made her blood run cold, it was only as one
of the the heads swallowed down the snake she had killed that the realisation the heads
were attached to the same body sank in, it was her first sight of a Hydra, and as both
heads struck her it occured to her this was going to hurt, strangely it didn`t but the
laughing troll did.
As the Hydra`s head swung towards her a couple of thoughts popped into her head,
she should have brought a bigger sword and what the hell were these things eating!, it
was twice the size of any she had faced before and proved, as she fended off one head
while the other pulled her off her feet launching her into the air to land some distance
away with a less than graceful landing, yeah they hurt a lot more too!, still she fought
on for while before slipping through some rocks, she cast healing spells on her self and
rejoined the battle afresh but made little headway and finaly grudgingly fled away from
the battle.
Her first encounter with these things had taught her a valuble lesson, after that
she had trained hard on evasion, which certainly paid off in this battle, this one taught
her she needed much better armour than she traveled around in and bigger sword, a much
bigger sword, still at least she had been spared the laughing trolls belly laugh!.
On the plains just outside the wastelands she put up a sign "Mind the snakes!"
she would come back soon, with potions and other stuff she normaly couldnt be bothered
to carry.
Wrote this after the Hydras got nerfed! I did go back and get my revenge on the not so little buggers!
