So I would like to share here and discus few thoughts about new changes connected with infrastructure upkeep.
First of all I like this idea, especially those parts:
1. Gold instead of dissapearing will be given to players for theyr work
2. It gives new objective to those not much in PvP
3. In future new interesting buildings could be added like faction watch towers, forts etc
Here are problems that I see at the moment with this feature, I hope this can be addressed:
1. Raw limestone availability.
At east side of map it looks like we have to mine raw limestone for around 9days each month 100% efectively to maintain roads and bridges. This impact heavly availability of those spots for people who would like to mine raw limestone for armours. This could be addressed in few ways:
- (i like this most) change formula for limestone powder so from 1 raw limestone we get 15 limestone powder insted of 10. Probably recipes requiring powder have to be adjusted (road and bridge)
- add 2 more tiles with raw limestone
- change explore rate for raw limestone
2. Maintenace cost of tile (here road tile will be example)
With some assumtions that I will describe in details below, mainenance cost for road tile now is 81-86 gold for each tile every month. Before changes it was 50 gold. How it can be addressed:
- if we choose to change limestone powder formula or change explore rate of raw limestone, would be one thing
- give extra 4000 gold for mayors to address higher cost
- reduce number of paving stones that are needed
- reduce rate at which tiles decays
3. No men to do maintenance work.
If we dont have people interested in doing maintenance work it will push peaople in direction of asking wifes/chieldren/dogs to create accont that will do only this work. So maybe we can give option for mayors to pay upkeep with gold, do be decided how this can be implemented

4. To much stoneworking
For road tiles there is only stoneworking work, for bridges a little woodworking. That will soon make stoneworking masters loose theyr job as we will have soon pleany skilled stone workers.
Maybe required skills could be more balanced. For example repairing road gives massonry exp and instead of few paving stones equivalent in planks can be added?

5. Move cost at roads not at high "health"
I saw idea to have different move cost on road depending on tile health. This sound nice at first but it will make path finders less accurate with that community effort with making tools will be impacted. When we consider this I hope we can no go with this feature
With what numbers I calculated upkeep for road tile:
- 6 mountain tiles produce 9 raw limestone every day if explored at 100% efficiency
- I would pay 5 gold/turn for work
- raw stone will be cut at 1,5/turn rate (200+ skill required, not giant)
- no crafting done in bulks (young ones will not have this option with low skill)
Disclaimer: I can be wrong with some assumtions and estimations but this is how players perceives it. I got it from ongoing discussions in discord during last weekend
