Nyx, The Dream World
Nyx appears as many different things, to many different people, an ever-shifting island in the middle of an endless ocean of mist, its landscape and mountain ranges are as ephemeral as its lifespan. The inhabitants of Nyx are also erratic as even Agonians themselves shift in and out of dream states, bringing into this world the most beautiful and nightmarish creatures of their subconscious imaginations, which roam freely or hunt indiscriminately.
For our first iteration of the dream world, we'll be resurrecting a long dead map, the very first version of Dro! Entirely remade by hand with the Agonia tileset for nostalgia's sake.
This map is tiny, like real tiny. It only measures about 80x80 tiles max, meaning you can span the whole thing in 1500 moves or less. This alone will change the game drastically in regards to PVP, scouting, movement, reinforcements, countering and raiding. The demand for teamwork will be at an all time high, and without a 2 day trek across the Agonian wasteland, players will be able to join in on the fun and have a casual afternoon PVP outing from start to finish in just 2-3 stress-filled hours! We'll dig into the scenario details and specifics more tomorrow in our next post!
This is probably the smallest size we can realistically do, so we want to test it out. Future maps will very likely be a little bit bigger, maybe 15-20% or more, but we'll see how you guys do on this one to start with, it will be good information. We may have big maps too, but we'll always tailor it to the scenario.

The framework of the dream world allows us a lot of freedom to bring you exciting new and novel game scenarios that don't fit in our permanent world of Agonia, or perhaps rigorously tests ones that might so we can make sure. With an everchanging scenario and fresh servers, we can hyper-focus on one or a few things (such as a whole scenario based around just sorcery, or runic, or forts), have accelerated starts and weird economies without danger, and powerful unique items. Even if we repeat the same scenarios because they may be well loved, we can still throw a new map in every time, or make other small changes instead. But for now, with Nyx 1, we will be having a classic rush war scenario, keeping it basic, as there are many in the community who haven't experienced one yet!
We'll be making a new forum category for Nyx, which will be home to the RP and battle logs players choose to post, and we implore you, from the bottom of our hearts, to post all your battle logs, victories and defeats, loot spoils and so on with as much detail and RP narration as you can. We'll remind everyone to save their character sheets before the wipe, and we'll have a thread where players can volunteer to post their characters at the end as a memorial and for memory keeping. It would be so nice to go back through the years of TPS history without it being fragmented and lost, so we want to start off on the right foot for the future's sake.
We'll be making a second discord server dedicated to Nyx, we'll have different faction colors and try to minimize confusion as much as possible between the two. Like with the game worlds though, the Agonia server will remain the primary and main focus. Discord just has a few specific limitations with regards to roles, nicknames, and so forth that we think this is the best way to go. We'll post the invites when it's time.
We're also having an email campaign, targeting all players with a decent chunk of turns spent in Agonia, who may have retired for any reasons, to tell them of the launch of the new world type. Feel free to reach out to anyone you may know and invite them back!
