End of January’s Double Recruitment Point Campaign
January hosted a 2x bonus to Recruit Points, and we want to deeply thank everyone who has ever taken the time out to promote our game and recruit players in, teach them the ropes, and supply them in-game. Even if all you can do is vote daily in-game, your efforts are much appreciated and help the community grow.
Agonia Awards 2021
The Agonia Awards Nominations for 2021 are completed!
You may now participate in the Final Vote: forms.gle/yRhx5qvN9jCZ5XsHA
We will close the polls in 5 days and organize an Award ceremony on Discord.
Valentine's Event
St Valentine is coming, but the action will be far away from the bedroom as the Agonian Giant Termite will begin its mating season.
Despite being the size of a pig, the Agonian Giant Termite is rarely noticed as it spends most of its life underground. The only exception is during the mating season, when the nuptial flights take place. A few females, or Termite Queens, and thousands of males, or Termite Drones, fly away from their colonies looking forlove sex. Once a Queen has selected one of the many male candidates, they look for a spot to build their colony, rip-off their wings, excavate a chamber, close up the entrance and proceed to mate, never to be seen again by Agonians who live at the surface.
The Agonian Giant Termite is not an agressive creature, in fact, it avoids as much as possible humans and other animals, and will run away from them whenever possible. If attacked however, it can retaliate and cause serious injuries, notably thanks to its hypercharged mandibules which can send deadly electric chocs. The Queens, which are four times the average size of the Drones, can be lethal even to a high-skilled fighter.
Though their bodyparts do not represent any interest, their souls are sought after by Sorcerers for various rituals and enchantments. The fact that they can be hunted only during the very short time window of the mating season causes those spirits to have a very high value on the black market.

General Server Performance
In general, our game server performs very well. Optimizations made since the winter 2019-2020 server change have held up well and we’ve seen ridiculous battles play out with no lag at all (remember the 55+ second dragon fight rounds? That was fun!) Invasion had a colossal battle lasting many hours with 60+ participants and the issues with that fight was not server related but code related (we hit monster health overflow issues) and database problems (who knew 60 players generating 10,000+ offline fight messages was bad?). The server is doing very well even with two worlds now and we have plenty of room to grow!
Recently we did have problems with Nyx Rounds 1 and 2, due to new code we put in to implement the dog tag feature on PVP kills. This code would stall the game engine until the database side stall protection kicked in, meaning that large PVP battles would freeze completely for about a minute, completely sucking the fun out of the rush world, but also taking Agonia down with it. In the end, we couldn’t tackle the issue thoroughly and quickly enough so we disabled it and went with a backup solution, but it’s not all negative! The new dog tag system has perks of its own and we already have ideas for how to improve on it moving forward if we still use it for Round 3 and onward.
Game Updates
Auction changes and Ongoing Investigation
Several changes were made to the Auction System:
Order can see auctions created in New Heaven and Freetown. Forsaken can see auctions created in Exodus and Freetown. Free Folk can see all auctions, be careful not to buy from a place you are banned!
Note: Our improvements to the Auction system have brought some issues that we are tracking down as we can. It is possible, if not likely, that you may lose items entirely that you’ve won on auction before you can pick them up. While we can advise you to avoid the system for now, any extra use is also beneficial to testing.
If you have lost any items to the Auction system bugs, please contact Emiliana on discord or Adminiala in game with as much evidence as you can and we will look into reimbursement as we try to settle the bugs.
Updates to Faction Infrastructure Watchtowers
The Infrastructure Watch Towers is now fully operational.
Building Watch Towers: Their recipe has been revamped and made simpler. They notably now includes a dragon eye. The infrastructure repair recipe does not include the dragon eye.
You need 250 in Woodworking and 250 turns.
This recipes produces 1 Watch Tower
Ingredients needed: 1440 Plank, 60 Dozen copper nails, 10 Dozen iron nails, 1 Dragon eye
Tools: None
Building: None
Reminder: the construction of Watch Tower is immediate and does not require an admin map update. However you can only build one on a 'full tile' meaning not a tile where two different types collide (such as forest/mountain transition). Just craft the item, go to the infrastructure page and click on 'Build a Watch Tower'. Effects and map icon will be immediate.
Sabotaging enemy Watch Towers: We’ve also added the ability to sabotage enemy faction watchtowers, spending movement points to deal damage to the structure, and once it reaches 0% Condition, it will disappear for good.
New NPCs and upcoming Quests
In the coming days you will see new NPCs, "Commissions Officer Frinz", "Commissions Officer Trevor", and "Biologist Crosna", they should be easy enough to find and they will handle some high level quests moving forward.
Quests will start trickling in after the St Valentine event is over.
Sacrificial Dagger
The Sacrificial Dagger
Stats: 5-22 Base Piercing Damage, 20 Attack Bonus, 2.2 Weight, 5 STR and 10 AGI required.
Special Power: Increases spirit catch rate on kill while worn.
Strength Scaling: Trainer Class
Recipe: 450 Sorcery Required, 2 Gold ingot, 1 Faceted Sapphire, 1 Ivory tusk
This new unusual dagger is as special as it is beautiful, made from the finest of ivory sapphire and gold, it is enchanted by sorcerers instead of crafted by smiths, and purpose built to further the sorcerer's goals. Using this work of art to ceremoniously take your foe's last breath will grant you an increased chance to capture its essence, perfect for the career spirit hunter.
Removal of Newbie bonus for early converts
Characters created on or after February 11th, 2022 will lose their newbie bonus if changing to the opposing faction (free folk is not an opposing faction to anyone). All existing characters can be considered grandfathered in but in general, we do not want tribes made for the sole purpose of converting, which is currently too common for our liking.
We'll keep an eye on this moving forward.
Other Changes
-No more bank fees: Removed the 1 Gold and other taxes for using the bank functions (store, withdraw, transfer, etc). This was having a negligible effect overall since moving it away from a percentage cut, and was just cumbersome to use, so it's gone.
-Train with a Master: The page now displays how much XP/turn each master will give you.
-Kamo spell: Preliminary page and mini-map display changes to fix the issues with the Leafborn spell, "Kamo". Once we have some time to test this and confirm the fixes, we can reactivate the spell.
-Map: A terraforming update occurred January 28th. This includes a new sprite sheet, if you see any issues with the in-game world map please refresh your cache (Control F5). All infrastructures that had reached 0 Health have been removed.
-Trade logs: You now get trade logs also when you buy items on Marketplace (it used to be only when you sold items)
Bugs fixed
-Bugfix: Added protection to avoid inventory and item issues when listing sales for strange values.
-Bugfix: Character tribe images now work correctly in the 'Diplomacy' and 'Train with Masters' pages.
-Bugfix: Removed erroneous ghost building in group towns.
