Annual Agonia Tournament 2022!


Like every year, we will have two tournaments:
-The Rookie Tournament, on Saturday 7 January - 7pm server time
-The Main Tournament, on Sunday 8 January - 7pm server time

The Rookie Tournament is reserved to characters created in 2022. Rookie characters can participate in both tournaments.

You can sign-up in two ways:
-In our Discord, on the #announcement channel
-Emiliana will send an ingame message, you can sign up by simply replying to her.

The inscription list will close on Saturday 7 January - 4pm



The Rules of the Tournaments

• You are allowed to use any gear you want, you will not lose any gear or skill if you get killed in the arena.
  
  
• The tournament will be a swiss style tournament.

• Everyone will fight 6 or 7 rounds (tbd based on the total number of participants).

• Each round will last 15minutes. 
  

• Once you know your opponent, you meet and fight 3 times. Final result can therefore only be 3-0 or 2-1. 

• Once you have won or lost, you must report your result in the discord channel (be specific about the score as it is important for tiebreakers).
  

• There will be rewards based on your final rank.

Organization

• 1 hour before the tournament, we will change the teleporting coordinates so that everyone goes to the same arena
  

• We expect the total duration to be about 2h30-3h00.

• We'll need people to pay attention and be reactive so we don't go overtime, hence the 15min per round rule.

• When the time is up, if you do not have a result, then either one of the two who is responsible forfeits, OR the tournament admin will decide, and if there is no criteria for choice, then a coin will be flipped, but we cannot have all participants wait for two people.

• EXCEPTIONALLY, and to give everyone a high chance of participation, you are EXCEPTIONALLY allowed to designate ONE other player who will be available to play your character if you have to go AFK. We will have a buddy system on a list that is public so everyone can see it.

• After the tournament is over, you will have two NPCs which teleport you back to either New Heaven or Exodus. You MUST go back to the same cap you came from. Anyone breaking this rule will have to face the divine wrath.

• There will be a raid ban 24h before and 24h after the tournament.

• Stat potions will be neutralized for the duration of the weekend.

Rewards

Normal League
-1 Ancient Relic for everyone who participates and doesn't forfeit any fight
-XP in leadership from 500XP up to 5,000XP based on rank
-Gold from 500 up to 5,000 based on rank
-Champion rank (annual rank) if you win 
-Gladiator rank (permanent rank) if you finish in the top 3

Rookie League
-1 Gift for everyone who participates and doesn't forfeit any fight
-XP in leadership from 250XP up to 2,500XP based on rank
-Gold from 250 up to 2,500 based on rank




Reminder about Swiss-style tournament

A swiss-style tournament works very differently compared to a classic knock-off tournament.
A script will generate the first pairings for round 1 randomly.
For round 2, winners will be matched with winners and losers with losers.
For round 3, winners of both rounds 1-2 will face each other, losers of both rounds will face each other, and those who won 1/2 will face each other.
And so on for 6-7 rounds.

There are many benefits:

• Everyone will have the same number of fights (in a knockoff it's not fun if you lose the 1st duel)

• You can win the tournament even if you lose a duel (no loss is eliminatory)

• After two rounds, you end up facing opponents of similar strength, making the fights much more interesting for everyone

• In the end we get an actual ranking from 1st to last
