A lot has happened in the previous weeks/months, in case you missed anything, here are the debrief posts:
2023 Honorary Titles
Congratulations go out to Champion Contatore on their 2022 Annual Tournament win, showing what a little bit of investment and luck can do.
Further congratulations to Ironman Oinky on their consistent performance on the various events throughout the 2022 event season.
These titles are temporary and will be passed on to the next winners at the end of this year!
AI assisted community art!
Recently Belouch made the initiative to replace our Agonia monster nameplates with your crowdsourced AI generated art, and we've been simply blown away by the possibilities of the technology and the efforts you all made. Incredibly fast we've gotten almost the entire roster full of imaginative and horrifying creatures, and we'll get them into the game as quick as we can so you can all enjoy them. The spare monsters created that don't fit current ones are also greatly motivating and inspiring for future fauna ideas!
Many of you have participated, and 17 have gotten at least one image validated. We thank you all for this help which will really change the game. A particular shout-out to Oinky and Bjorntorson who have provided over 60% of the images, showing superb commitment to this project and the game and providing so many amazing images.
Here are some of my favorites, besides Bjorn's stupid bulldog.
Game Updates
Game Page Upgrades
Craftsmanship Page
The Craftsmanship Page has entirely revamped, consolidating many functions, adding new guide functionality, and updated code for item handling moving forward.
Crafting
-Items now show their characteristics and special powers, such as protection and defense power values, what equipment slot you wear it in, total rune slots, stat bonuses, potion effects and durations, so that you know in more detail what you are crafting beforehand.
-Players may now see their skill and XP progress on the crafting pages.
-Players may now access crafting facility buildings needed for higher tier recipes while in towns that have them set to ally, without being a part of the group.
-Outsiders ranks no longer have access to any crafting facilities.
Runic
-All runic functions have been moved to the Craftsmanship page Runic category. They will be accessed there from now on.
-Merge Runes now shows current and upgraded Rune effects, the skill required to merge, and allows multiple sets of merges at once.
-Applying Runes to equipment will show what the rune will give the item based on the rune's level and the target item's category, and advise you of the increased runic level required.
-Rune Merging and leveling up Runes is now coded entirely differently than before, and allows greater design flexibility moving forward.
-The current maximum level for Runes is now 5. It is not currently allowed to merge three Level 5 into a Level 6, though it is trivial to turn this back on if we want in the future. This is simply the extreme end of being economical, the end of what players can reach as far as rune generation, population, and runic skill required.
-The bug causing you to be unable to remove runes from items unless you were at the max recovery chance of the rune (70%) was fixed in the code rewrite, and this should now be possible but ill-advised.
-A conversion script was run on items, fixing some edge cases with runed items bringing them into the new system. If you notice anything messy with an item, let Emiliana know.
Inventory Page
The inventory page has been revamped with a focus on powerful new quality of life features, alongside the new code baseline needed for durability, repair, unique and legendary versions of weapons, and more.
General Inventory
-Sorting will follow the new updated item groupings in the backend, hopefully making it more consistent moving forward. This is true for all item containers, not just inventory but dwellings, town halls, etc.
-A new checkbox option next to drop, get, store, withdraw functions and pages allowing to toggle "ALL" without typing.
-Item weights are now listed as total and per-unit values, making it easier to calculate for weight management.
-Tiny image shortcuts were replaced with text links, to assist with eliminating accidental clicks on smaller devices.
-Support for Soulbound and other miscellaneous information tags, not just special powers.
-The inventory page will now auto-equip your 'best' shield when you equip a one handed weapon, similar to the fight page
-Storage limits in buildings are now color coded based on how filled they are, and players will receive an alert when they try to store items that could not fit.
Group / Dwelling Functions
-Group inventory functions, such as managing member dwellings, have been removed from the group page and moved into the inventory page.
-Group leaders may view all member's dwellings in their current town just as before, as well as move items from dwellings to town hall, which now supports moving partial stacks of items. The manage dwellings link is contextual and will appear when you are a leader of a group.
-Players may now view a comprehensive list and overview of all items stored in all their own dwellings, in all group towns, globally. Access this through the View Dwellings link.
-Players may now Store To and Withdraw From dwellings in towns that have them set to ally, without being a part of the group. These links are contextual and will appear when available (when you are on the location and when you have access)
-Players may now Store To Town Hall and Mason Hut of towns that have them allied, without being a part of the group. Withdraw is still explicitly for approved members only.
-Unlike crafting facilities, members in Outsiders ranks will still have access to their dwellings, even without being allied by the group.
Evolution Page
The evolution page has been revamped too, though as a simple and small page, nothing crazy has been added. Players can get details on what each stat does by hovering over the (i) icon next to the Stats.
New NPCs
Elias Nun has opened his herb shop. You will know more about this through an ingame quest
Other Changes
Last Update Summary: In our August 19th game update, we added vicious new upgraded brigands as a surprise. The overall AI for brigands was also overhauled to bring improvements in how they spawn, and how they move throughout the map, being more active than before, similar to our rework of the dragon AI but not as bloody. The four invasion tribes from our January 2021 event are becoming mainstays to the quests, fauna, and random occurrences of the island of Agonia moving forward. Normal brigands still spawn and roam Agonia, but the new invasion brigands are far more brutal and dangerous, with improved but different rewards. As of this February 2023 Game Update, their combat prowess was very slightly increased.
-The Horror Hall Kill History is now separated into yearly and all-time categories, allowing you to view who was dominant during each year.
-The highest killshots in the previous years will hold an honorary title. Congratulations to Marauder Tiana for leading the Horror Hall in 2022 (50 kills)! Runner-ups (no rank sorry) are Mutuwa (40 kills) and Grahf (35 kills). Grahf will also get this rank as he topped the Horror Hall in 2019, 2020 and 2021!
-The weight of gold coins has been universally normalized, as before it was different on each page due to errors and changes over time. The new weight is 1 per every 10,000 coins.
-Precision rings have been re-labeled as +Attack Power, instead of -Target Defense Power. This serves two functions, first to alleviate confusion as to what it actually does, and to free up the term for future designs of powerful items that actually assist your allies hit-rates on your target as well. The bonus precision rings provide are now visible on character sheet totals.
-Lava crawlers and lava whirlers can now drop chunks of coal. This will not revolutionize the coal economy, it's just a little flavor thing.
-Bugfix: Fixed a bug where attack power on the character sheet's calculation was 5 higher than reality (+75 instead of +70 base). This has not affected any fights as it is just a display error entirely separate from the fight engine, and this is not a change to a formula, since July 16 2020 the fight engine calculation has been using +70 base.
-Bugfix: Fixed a bug allowing players to drop below 0 turns remaining during uncrafting.
-Bugfix: Fixed a bug preventing players from removing runes if the chance of success was less than 70%.
-Bugfix: Fixed a critical bug. As per our bug report policy, a player has earned an ancient relic for a swift and abuse-free report.
