Helloween 2023 - Briefing
Same as last year, just a tiny event as a small treat for Halloween
A bunch of roaming skeletons and lost souls have emerged from everywhere. Recommended minimum skill is softcap.
They give really good main weapon skill XP, which will be the main event reward in itself.

Lessons Learned
Same as last year, just a tiny event as a small treat for Halloween
A bunch of roaming skeletons and lost souls have emerged from everywhere. Recommended minimum skill is softcap.
They give really good main weapon skill XP, which will be the main event reward in itself.
- Event has started just now. It will last for about 2 days.
- There's no raidban.
- The spawns are constant, there is a first growing wave at the beginning, and then a constant, regular stream of spawns until a certain amount.
- The kills from last year have been wiped so everyone starts fresh.
- Unlike last year, the skeletons now move and attack players! But they are skeletons, so they have terrible eyesight and move slowly. Lost souls do not move.
Rewards are the same as last year:
- Main weapon XP from the monster themselves
- Small leadership reward based on your rank in kill numbers
- 1 Ancient Relic for top 10%
- 1 Faceted Diamond for top 1

Lessons Learned
- As you know this year we tried something a little different, giving the skeletons some very basic AI, where they would move around, and also attack players coming very close to them. In addition birds of a feather flock together and they would slowly aggregate when they would meet up with other skeleton friends. This means that as time went by, they started forming bigger and bigger piles, and towards the end you needed to have more and more players fighting together to kill the bigger piles. The largest recorded pile this year was 29.
- Overall we are very happy with this new system, as it made the event a lot less linear than before, with an increasing challenge overtime and more teamwork incentive.
- The roaming skeletons killed a lot of inactive characters around the cap, we will consider adding a 'last logged' check on the skeleton's AI.
- They also killed several newbies, we are not sure we want to add a 'turncount' check because it means newer players could be used to scout around safely and sleep next to 20+ piles at no risk.
- We have seen some negative feedback on the fact that newbies cannot participate in this event. While we do try to make the game as encouraging to newbies as possible, it doesn't mean that 100% of everything should always be newbie-compatible either. This is a very short event of only two days. We have some very strong catch-up mechanics (softcap, moving hardcap, newbie XP bonus) and this is in part so that we can also sometimes put away any 'widening the gap' concern in order to organize some fun and challenging event for 'oldies'.
