Server Status
To be clear, this is nothing to worry about!
We recently received news that our server provider is not only increasing their prices soon, but they are entirely shutting down the data center we are in at the end of 2024.
We've had this hosting for a long time now, and the hardware is getting a little dated to be fair. While our needs aren't very demanding, our hardware can definitely improve (agonia isn't even on an ssd), and it seems with the current options it wouldn't be that much more expensive to do so. So we will be shopping around to move the servers to another data center, almost assuredly still in France, as soon as we find a suitable new home.
For you players, this means that sometime soon we will have a downtime in game service of potentially multiple days as this is all managed by the datacenter companies.
Funding
We accept donations for the game, 100% of which go towards the hardware and hosting to run the game server, and will never, ever give you any sort of advantage or favor in game, and we only go through ko-fi.com/agonia, which is handled by DSPE.
The only change here is that we've added a small link to the Ko-fi on the character login page. We do not advertise this often, and we deeply appreciate all of those who have given support to the fund.
We'll let you know when we find out more about the upcoming server changes, and we will write a more transparent financial post soon, detailing our average monthly intake and usage the last years, and moving foward.
We want to sincerely thank all the contributors who have donated to the game and helped us pay for the server costs since early 2023. A special thank-you to our three top 2023 supporters: Dronag, Carvery and Oinky.
Game Updates
New Fauna
New Fauna Tier 9 (snow), and Tier 10 (plains, wastes, forest, desert, mountain, snow) have been added, totaling over 50 new monsters.
While there are six total fauna 10 areas, each side (west/east) has only four of the six, and are otherwise completely equal. This should make for some fun spirit-hunting field trips
A large heartfelt thank you to the AI image crew who helped develop the themes and monster ideas of these new areas. All of these new monsters have impressive images ready to go at launch!
Be Warned: The new Fauna 10 areas deal incredibly, incredibly heavy and fatal elemental damage and you will need to be properly prepared to even survive there, much less to train daily. Also, remember that last patch we had a fix to monster seeking formula, meaning that it's much more likely for them to stop you depending on your fleeing skill.
Work on Fauna Tier 11 has also started. We will first be monitoring fauna 10 difficulty and placement to make sure we are meeting our desired balance between dangerous to old characters while inviting to newer characters. The intended difficulty of Tier 11 is not survivable at the current hardcap anyway.
Map adjustments
Thanks to a player survey conducted a few months ago we collected a lot of information and feedback on the main map issues. We then formed a small advisory council with a few players from the three factions to discuss the most frequently mentioned issues. Based on this we operated several map changes on both sides of the map.
About a dozen relatively small, but quite impactful changes have been made on the map. Following a quick player census on discord we decided not to reveal the changes and let you figure them out.
This was combined with a few tweaks in the fauna, which is summarized below:
West Changes
-Fauna 9 Forest tiles south of the northern river, has been lowered by four fauna levels.
-Fauna 8 Forest at "The Eye" has been lowered by one fauna level.
-Fauna 7 Wastes is now further north, opening this area for other fauna.
-Added Fauna 7 Mountain (Accruali) location to the mainland.
East Changes
-The mountain linked with Pteranodons has been raised to a Level 2 mountain, along with other terraforming in the area. The monster spawn rate in this biome is now back up to the normalized rates.
-The "miragaia cross" has been lowered by two fauna levels (from 6 to 4).
-Fauna 8 Waste has shifted southeast.
-Fauna 9 Forest has moved north.
-Added Fauna 7 Mountain (Accruali) location to the mainland.
Snowy Mountains and Crampons
Alongside new snow fauna, a new terrain is now added. Snowy Mountain is now accessible by players, with a ridiculously hefty move-cost that is offset by a new foot equipment item: the Crampons
If you'd like to explore the Snowy Mountain plateaus in the north, you'd best pay a visit to your faction blacksmiths first.
High Snowy Mountains are still inaccessible however, seemingly due to a strong magical force from the north producing extreme snowstorms.
New Quests
Four new quests have been added today and are mostly aimed at newbies, though they will have a continuing questline and unique rewards for all players down the line. Further veteran focused quests, along with new repeatable monthly quests, will be added alongside the spell update in a couple of weeks.
Blacksmith Apprentice I & II
[Requirements: 60 main skill, 10 blacksmithing] The Mastersmith at the crafting guild has opened his new state-of-the-art forge for business. New characters who do the Initiation Quests will now be told about this NPC and his quests in Initiation III, and it starts with an introduction to mining.
Spirit Atlas I & II
A new NPC has been added: The Tinkerer, and his wonderfully experimental machines. Banished from the Ancient's Academies, you can find the Tinkerer in exile, building a new workshop in the mountains of Agonia. Each faction gets their own tinkerer!
[Requirements: 70 Main, 70 sorcery] A strange new pillar of chimney smoke raises from a workshop deep in the mountains.
Fleeing debuff
To nerf PvP flee-killing, while keeping the full power of fleeing in PvE, we have added a new, temporary debuff:
The idea here is that fleeing should be a last-resort, desperate move to save your life, and if you succeed, you should run to your mommy. Not heal to full health and rejump after a few seconds on someone who initially mopped the floor with your nose.
Other changes
Bug fixes
-Bugfix: Fixed an error with invalid item use orders during combat caused by stale links / tabs.
-Bugfix: Fixed an error where dragons were eating their own tails.
-Bugfix: Fixed an issue where the 0 was not shown in the guide item count sentence if there were none of that item in a world.
-Bugfix: Fixed an issue where character activity was not properly logged. Player "online" status will now be more accurate in piles of players. It is no longer possible to "hide" under offline people and use look around.
-Bugfix: Fixed a second error where dragons were eating their own tails again.
-Bugfix: Fixed an error where the dragonslayer title was not automatically applying.

Fleeing debuff
To nerf PvP flee-killing, while keeping the full power of fleeing in PvE, we have added a new, temporary debuff:
- You get this debuff when you successfully flee while being targeted by another player
- The debuff is -30 Attack Power and -30 Defense Power
- The debuff lasts for 1 hour
The idea here is that fleeing should be a last-resort, desperate move to save your life, and if you succeed, you should run to your mommy. Not heal to full health and rejump after a few seconds on someone who initially mopped the floor with your nose.
Other changes
- The Quest Log now has two sections, one for normal quests, and one for quests that reset monthly, allowing you to easily find and differentiate them.
- "Drop All" links will now ignore Soulbound items, leaving them in your inventory. To drop them, you need to do so specifically and individually. "Grab All" links will still include Soulbound items.
- When reviewing your stats in the evolution purchase screen, only your current "base" stats will be shown, as they are the only thing relevant when shopping. Previously, modifications such as spells, food, quests, or rings changed the totals here.
- The small map view on the main page has had its range increased from 5 tiles, to 6 tiles. Local chat range has also been increased to 6 tiles.
- Additional arena non-combat tiles have been added, the 4 square brown tiles at the bottom of each arena.
- The original two bridges, both south-west of New Heaven, no longer decay and thus no longer need repair.
- Players may now access the personal diplomacy pages during combat, and a link to diplomacy has been added on the top right links section of the fight page, by Logout. A player's default diplomacy, when set to war, is now shown under their tribe portrait in the fight page. This is a measure to help players solve the "spectator" issue for PVP. If you are experiencing a would-be enemy appearing as a spectator, you can quickly switch to Default: WAR which will allow you to target everyone that is not your ally on the tile. You can toggle it off after the battle. Further code redundancy will be added later to try to stop the issue from happening altogether.
- The inventory hover tooltips on the paper doll have been fixed!
- The small map of the Main page and the large map of the Look Around page have gotten a tiny facelift (player initials, monster piles).
- Ongoing performance and maintenance relating to timers and database connections.
