In the forest Kyri slept deeply and peacfully strange thing swirled in her dreams
then all was dark, in the distance a dim light glowed she was pulled toward it at
great speed lightning flashed and she found herself looking everywhere and yet nowhere
all at once...
************************************************************************************
A top a small hill that lay at exactly the right point in the midst and joining of
ley lines and a nexus of ancient magical energys form across unseen dimensions a
group of Sorcerors and Wizards stood argueing, they had gathered from far and wide
from realms unheard of by most decent folk to converge thier magical experience to
create a Gollem to do thier bidding and mostly because they could, those that trod
the path of darkness wanted to use the Gollem to increase thier power over the lands
as who could stand against the elemental tool they had created, those that followed
a path of light wished to use the creature to benifit the peoples of the lands and
so they bickered.
The hill stood close to an old road along which an odd pair ambled, a hulking hairy
beast of a creature clad in skins, patches of mismatched armour and carrying a large
spiked club because the creature was fond of going out clubbing and a small elf maid
dressed in dark leather armour off of which a myriad of weapons hung, mostly of the
sharp pointy kind, the pair walked happily chatting.
On the hill the magical gathering watched the two below,"why not engage the services
of these fellows to gaurd the Gollem while we debate in the comfort of a local Inn?"
suggested one, the thought of quenching thirsts and filling bellies after the long
days of preperation and magical summoning was enough to persuade all of the merits
of this course of action, they shouted down and soon the adventurers stood before
them, a wizard started to explain to the blank faced pair but was stopped by another
" Here, guard this place untill we return, you`ll get another of these when we do"
a large pouch was offered to the pair, who now had interested looks on their faces,
with various mutterings, incantations and puffs of smoke the two travelers were left
alone on the hill.
"Who wer' dey" the hairy one said, the elf girl looked around thoughtfully a massive
bronze brazier stood over magical flame, pungent smells came from it, next to the
brazier stood a finely carved statue its limbs of stone and joints of metal, its eyes
shone dimmly and stared straight head, waiting for the commands that would define its
existance.
"I dont know, dont care either" she tossed the pouch to her companian, he caught it
and looked inside, gems, jewells and gold glittered inside.
"Dey want us ta sit on dis nice hill wit' der nice fire and ev'yting, an dey pay all
dis, HA HA dey is none too bright" the troll laughed "dis be easy cash"
The elf looked around all seemed peaceful and quiet, the sun shone gently down "you
could be right, but lets keep our eyes open just in case and you dont know how long
that lot will be, we could be here for days or weeks " she looked around again as if
she felt watched, sitting down and sharpenning her swords, she waited, listening as
the troll looked at a small gem.
"wit dis I is gonna buy sum new shiny nails fer me club and get new skin fer to wind
roun' da handle" he paused looked again at the gem "and sum beer, wot ya gonna get?"
"Not much after you spend it all!" she grinned "more beer of course!" hours passed
with meaningless banter to pass the time, the trolls stomach growlled.
"when we gonna eat?" scowling the troll got up and stompped about "you stays 'ere an I
go find us sum grub" with that he stompped off down the hill toward the distant farm-
lands, the day passed and night came, the elf wondered what trouble her friend had
got into, she waited by the fire until the night started to fade into dawns light
"Dis better be da bludy right hill dis time!" muttered a familiar voice.
"What kept you?" the elf stayed by the fire and watched as her companian blundered in.
He carefully set down some sacks that she assumed contained food.
"Well, I is goin down der an der farmers is runnin and screamin, till dis ol` lady
starts slappin and pokin er stick around, den dey is quiet, so I traded a few coins
fer food when I has finished stuffin me face, I tinks maybe yous might be hungry, so
I get stuff fer you too, an cos we no know how long da longbeard pointyhats gonna be
bags o stuff fer our stay, dey farmers were very happy wit der couple o coins" the
troll grinned which would normaly have caused most other creatures to run in terror.
The elf girl sighed and got up to see what the troll had brought, flour, eggs, butter
a couple of gallons of milk, "I`ll make some breakfast" and busied herself preparing
the Gollem had not moved but stood eyes fixed on the horizon shining dimmly waiting
for its masters command.
"Wot yer makin" thoughts of food rarely failed to excite the troll.
"Well that milk wont last too long out here so I`m making pancakes" she got out her
little pan and slowly showed the troll, explaining each process as she did so, when
one side was cooked she deftly flipped the pancake into the air so that the other side
could cook properly, soon the industrious little elf had made a few small pancakes
that they shared between them.
"Dey were gud, but not last long why we not use dis big pan ta make a great big one
an den we not be hungry" quickly the troll cleaned out the brazier and threw butter
into it, followed by the other ingridients soon it was ready to turn the troll grabbed
the brazier, there was a shriek and the smell of burning hair "Bugger, its too hot
fer me to grab" the stared saddly at the brazier, a large stone hand reached forward
past the troll and the Gollem deftly lifted the brazier and flipped the contents over,
the troll jumped back in surprise "Bludy heck, dat ting is alive! hey it better nut
be afta me pancake or it`ll be sorry"
The elf girl watched the gollem and the gollem watched the elf girl, some pimordial
magic moved through it a sense of a purpose slowly it turned to look at the pancake
it finished cooking and the two sat down and ate it, to be fair the troll ate most
of it, the gollem watched them eat and its sense of self and purpose grew, it watched
as the pair finished eating and settled down to keep watch, it watched as they fell
asleep, it waited for a while and then started to make a fresh pancake.
The gollem was about to flip the brazier when the Sorcerors and wizards returned in
unison they shrieked in anger, waking the pair and startling the gollem, the brazier
and pancake flew high in the air, the pancake flying out of sight, alert to danger
the pair were already on their feet, hands resting on weapons.
"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!" screamed the wizards who were besides themselves with rage "You
have ruined our lives work, the years of study, the...." hands raised magic crackled
at the end of fingers "NOW You wil DI.." squelch!, the brazier came crashing down on
the group of enraged magicusers crushing them beneath its bulk.
The troll looked down at the elf beside him "wot was dat all about?" the odd limb
twitched and blood oozed out from underneath the brazier.
"Damned if I know, but its your turn to do the washing up!" the pair packed up their
belongings, rescued a pouch or two from the deceaced and walked off down the road, the
gollem stood and watched them go its eyes shining dimly.

Kyri woke from her dream, confused as to where she was, the memory of it faded away soon
it was gone and her day started and she forgot all about it.
