Do I lose gold when I die to other players? Monsters?

Gold (and all items) drop on the ground after 10 days of your initial character creation. They remain under the monster pile but can be claimed by anyone who clears the pile, or by the character that killed you.

So, I'll lose all gold I have in my inventory if I die after the 10 days? Or I lose just part of the amount?
